I wonder……Do you ever dance when you are alone…..and sober? I call it “bare your soul” dancing. Your body is free to move however it likes with no risk of embarrassment or criticism. It is so liberating and I recommend it highly! You have an instant smile on your face and in your heart.
As you probably know, Ellen DeGeneres has a daily talk show and she dances with the audience at the beginning of the show. Not only does she connect with the audience, but she raises everyone’s energy, lightens the mood and puts a smile on everyone’s face! Brilliant!
There is an energy that is hard to describe for when you dance to music…..it is like your body is buzzing from head to toe. From the youngest of ages the desire for dance in human beings is strong. This desire is across all races and religions. It is universal. It is a gift to our souls and should always be treasured and encouraged.
The following poem, “Stream of Life” by Rabindranath Tagore sums it all up beautifully.
“The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.
It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth in numberless blades of grass and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.
It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth and of death, in ebb and in flow.
I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life.
And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.”
If you want to raise your energy instantly, put some music on that you love and start dancing! Surrender to the joy of movement!
